Species in this genus are usually dug in the early spring. Orders for species in this genus should be placed before April.
This cold hardy native of Hokkaido, Japan grows more upright than most Sasa species. It remains evergreen here during a lot of our winters, especially if covered by snow.
We grow ours underneath a Yoshino cherry tree and it's been very happy there for a number of years now.
