Sasa oshidensis

Maximum height: 6 ft.

(More often .125 in.)
Minimum temperature: -10ºF
(The roots are at least 10ºF more hardy.)

Digging Season: Late October through December, or until the ground freezes.




Big beautiful tropical-looking leaves is what this bamboo brings to the garden! It's a great Hosta substitute since the leaves are too tough for slugs to eat.

We've been very impressed with the cold hardiness of this stunning large-leafed ground cover bamboo.

It has remained evergreen for us here in zone 5 through most winters. Snow cover helps.
