Sasa hayatae in the summer

Sasa hayatae during autumn

This groundcover bamboo adds autumn color with seasonal pseudo-variegation. The variegated appearance that happens in the autumn is due to the cells in the edges of the leaves bursting in response to shorter daylight hours.
