Phyllostachys nuda
Maximum height: 34 ft.
(More often 18 ft. to 22 ft.)
Maximum diameter: 1 3/4 in.
Minimum temperature: -20ºF
(The roots are at least 10ºF more hardy.)
Digging Season: Late October through December, or until the ground freezes.
This species makes a great tall screen, hedge, or specimen. It has good edible shoots. It's more wind tolerant than some. The new culms feature black and white bands around the nodes.
